FAQ's

  • Will I have to work away from home?

    details

For permanent members of staff we will always try to provide assignments within daily travel from home but inevitably this cannot always be the case.  The primary consideration has to be the needs of the client:  what special expertise is needed; which consultants can best meet those needs and of these, who is available.  Most of our permanent members of staff have had periods when they have had to spend time away from home living in hotels or apartments.

Associates are able to have greater choice about the assignments on which they work.  They can decline an assignment which would require them to stay away from home.  However, the consultants to whom most work is offered are those who, on occasions, are willing to travel longer distances and to stay away from home for some days during the week.

  • What are the travel and accommodation arrangements?

    details

Our support staff will book train tickets and secure accommodation for both permanent and associate staff.  The cost of these is covered by Capita Strategic Children’s Services.  Where, for unusual circumstances, it has been necessary for consultants to pay for their own travel or accommodation this is reimbursed through an expenses process.

  • Will I have a choice of assignments?

    details

Whilst we always try to take into account individual preferences it is not always possible to do so because of the imperative to meet client needs.  Associates can decline assignments but frequent refusals may limit the opportunities offered.

  • What is the salary/fee rate?

    details

Salaries of permanent staff and daily fee rates for associates are agreed on an individual basis.

  • What is the selection process?

    details

For associates the process usually involves a short written exercise and an interview with senior Capita Strategic Children's Services managers.  For those seeking a permanent post there is an additional interview with the Capita Strategic Children's Services Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director.

  • As an associate do I have to be self-employed?

    details

Associates need to be set up as a Limited Company or set up on our payroll.

  • As an associate how likely is that I will be offered work?

    details

We are a highly successful company which is why we need to recruit new employees. However, whilst we make every effort to make effective use of all our associates we cannot guarantee work.  We have to respond to the needs of our clients, the skill set they need and the match with associate availability.
