Professional Background

Prior to joining CSCS, over fifteen years experience of working in children’s social care. Experience of operational line management of the full range of social care functions (CiN, LAC and child protection) and strategic senior management roles. Specific roles included:

  • Head of Partnerships, Performance and Strategy in a midlands LA with responsibility for strategic planning, commissioning and procurement functions for adults and children’s social care. Responsibilities included performance management and improvement, Inspection, equalities, user engagement and developing effective partnership approaches and integrated arrangements with health/education.
  • Supporting a midlands Area Child Protection Committee, ensuring effective local inter-agency safeguarding arrangements.
  • Team Manager – Children in Need, with responsibility for the management of social care services to children and families including children in need of safeguarding and looked after children and young people

Profile

Particular interest and expertise in safeguarding children, strategic planning, commissioning, performance management and performance improvement of children’s services across multi-agency environments. An effective leader with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, results orientated, and confident and credible in working in a political environment. A proven track record as an effective senior manager of children’s services, as an operational manager of children’s social care and in strategic roles delivering integrated arrangements.

  • Interim Programme Manager for Primary and Secondary National Strategies- responsible for ensuring effective delivery of the DfES contract to deliver improvement in education
  • Senior Project Manager, Primary Framework for Literacy and Mathematics- responsible for ensuring delivery of the framework and stakeholder management
  • Consultancy to Capita Education Services – supporting the development of an Integrated Children’s System to meet the data and information requirements of emerging children’s services departments, with a particular focus on ensuring the product meets the requirements of children’s social care.
