Professional Background
Prior to joining CSCS, over thirty years experience of working in a number of schools and LAs in a variety of roles with diverse responsibilities. Significant school based as well as LA senior management experience.
Specific roles included:

Headteacher of two special schools in different LAs, the last being that of a residential EBD school and included managing a large outreach support service on behalf of the LA

An inspector for SEN in a large, high profile urban LA

Deputy Director for SEN/Inclusion in an LA which had received a very critical OFTSTED inspection.
Profile
Particular interest and expertise in supporting and developing strategies for pupils with special educational needs, behaviour management, whole school improvement initiatives, strategic planning, performance management and performance improvement of LA services across multi-agency environments. An effective leader with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, results orientated, and confident and credible in working in a political environment. A proven track record as an effective senior manager of LA services, as an operational manager of SEN/Inclusion and in strategic roles delivering integrated arrangements.

Working as part of the National Strategies development team, producing the first Annual Plan after Capita had been awarded the contract in 2004

Supporting a number of LAs develop their BSF vision and plans, as well as working on behalf of the DFES assessing the preparedness of LAs in phase one and two to receive BSF funding

Acting Deputy Director Inclusion in a north west LA for fifteen months, supporting their implementation of a large scale SEN review

Provision of support to a Yorkshire based LA in their development of SEN policy and provision as well as creating processes to evaluate the effectiveness of off-site provision for pupils with special needs
