Professional Background

Prior to joining CSCS, over thirty years experience of working in a number of schools and LAs in a variety of roles with diverse responsibilities. Significant school based as well as LA senior management experience. Specific roles included:

  • Deputy Head of Service, Inclusion and Access, in a midlands LA with responsibility for co-ordination of business planning and performance / financial management and monitoring across the Service area, management of inclusion and access units including service planning, school organisation and school places, admissions to nursery, primary school and secondary school, home to school transport, pupil and student benefits and lead officer for Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership
  • Principal Education Officer, Schools Management, in a Midlands LA with responsibility for management support to Head Teachers and Governing Bodies including legislative advice, personnel issues relating teaching staff, school organisation and school places;, admission to nursery, primary school and secondary school, Education Welfare Service, Project Manager – Sure Start Trailblazer, joint lead officer in development of multi-agency, community based Family, Education and Training Centres (SRB funded) interim management of School Financial Services and joint lead officer with Chief Adviser on school intervention

Profile

Particular interest and expertise in strategic analysis and interpretation of data, in a variety of forms and evidence based evaluation, managing cultural and organisational change, supporting and developing strategies for integrated children’s services, school improvement, pupils with special educational needs, behaviour management, performance management and performance improvement of LA services across multi-agency environments.

Projects completed with CSCS

Significant and extensive experience of completing a variety of projects since joining Capita in 2001. Some examples of the most recent contracts are highlighted below.

  • Northern City – working with the senior management team of the newly formed children’s service and schools to develop an integrated approach to school improvement and raising achievement of children and young people across the City
  • Interim Strategy Manager in an inner London LA in the newly established Children and Young People’s Directorate, responsible for strategy and polciy development and systems including, Children and Young People’s Plan and associated business planning, performance management framework, commissioning policy, preparation for Annual Performance Assessment / Joint Area Review. development of directorate marketing strategy and supporting various service level policy developments, mainly within children’s social care.
  • Management oversight and support to our consultant working to the Director of Children and Young People’s Services in a south west LA. The consultant has provided support to establish the new Children and Young People’s Directorate.
