Our team includes former Directors, and second and third tier managers from a range of settings including education, social care and the voluntary sector. We also have Primary and Secondary Head Teachers. All of the team have excellent communication and management skills.
Our team is led by Ian Harrison, Managing Director.
Ian leads on commercial negotiations and support for all major strategic education contracts. He has led SCS from its inception in January 2001, helping to win all the major contracts that Capita SCS has been involved in. He recruited the Capita SCS team (now 38 permanent staff) and a significant number of associates and has built the business up so that it is now one of the leading providers of interim management and consultancy to Childrens Services Departments. He has developed the Capita SCS offer to clients and contributed to national discussions and debates on education. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Education Leeds and of the Haringey Education Management Board. He has overseen several interim management contracts and provided direct consultancy support to Childrens Services Departments and LSCs.
Ian was Director of Education, London Borough of Newham from 1992 to 2001. In 1999 he was promoted to the post of Director of Education and Deputy Chief Executive. Newham was widely praised for the effectiveness of the education strategies that were put into place since Ian joined the Council. In January 1998 OFSTED published its report on the inspection of the LEA, which it described as a model of good practice. He played a leading role in developing Newham’s Education Action Zone, which was widely regarded as one of the most successful EAZs in the country. He led a number of strategic reviews of education services, including, for example, the development of Newham’s Inclusive Education strategy. In 1998 Professor Michael Barber, Head of the DfEE’s Standards and Effectiveness Unit at the time, described Newham’s inclusive education provision as world class. Ian was also responsible for the development of Newham’s attendance strategy, which resulted in major improvements in pupil attendance.
